This poacher has plastic egg cups. I didn’t know this when I ordered it. I was expecting teflon coated metal ones. The plastic cups take longer to cook and the eggs don’t drop out very well.

My brother remembers an old Farberware steel egg poacher from the 50’s and asked for one for Christmas. He did not want an electric one, he wanted a stove top. He was very pleased and says the eggs are excellent and the instructions as to cooking time very precise.

The plastic inserts are not good at all. They are not a non-stick surface. You cannot get the eggs out without destroying the egg.
